Recap

The show begins with a town engulfed in flames as missiles rain from the sky. Amidst the chaos, a frantic girl asks her mother about a bomb shelter before suddenly being consumed by a pillar of fire. The scene then shifts to present-day Tokyo, where a 37-year-old man named Mikami Satoru meets his friend Tamura and Tamura’s girlfriend, Sawatari Miho. Their conversation is abruptly interrupted when a man wielding a knife rushes toward Tamura. Acting on instinct, Satoru pushes Tamura out of harm’s way and is stabbed in the back instead. As he lies bleeding, he begins to hear a mysterious female voice listing the resistances he has acquired: Heat Resistance, Stab Resistance, Physical Attack Resistance, Pain Nullification, Cold Resistance, and Thermal Fluctuation Resistance. In his final moments, Satoru asks Tamura to destroy his hard drive. The voice informs him that, while deletion via electric current failed, he has instead acquired Electric Current Resistance and Paralysis Resistance.

As he processes his impending death, Tamura jokingly confesses that he only invited Satoru out to brag about his girlfriend, a fact Satoru already knew. Regretting that he is dying a virgin, Satoru resolves to sleep with every woman he sees if he is ever reborn. The voice immediately declares that he has received the unique skill Predator. As he reflects on how he could have become a Great Sage by forty, the voice confirms that he has acquired the extra skill Sage, which has now evolved into the unique skill Great Sage. With that, Satoru dies, but he soon realizes that he is not in a hospital. Instead, he suspects that he has been reincarnated—into a slime.

Now a slime, Satoru quickly discovers that he does not need to eat or drink but begins absorbing plants out of boredom. When he wonders where the absorbed plants go, the voice in his mind explains that they are stored within the skill Predator, which allows him to analyze absorbed objects, acquire their skills, mimic them, and isolate any harmful properties. Introducing herself as the Great Sage, the voice further clarifies that his ability enhances his reaction speed. At his request, she analyzes the plants and identifies them as Hipokute Herbs, a rare healing potion ingredient that only grow in areas rich in magicules, the fundamental energy of all magical beings. Recognizing their value, Satoru absorbs all the herbs in the cave and transforms them into healing potions. He also collects magistone ores, which have accumulated magicules over time and are considered valuable resources.

As he moves through the cave, Satoru falls into a body of water and, unable to swim, inhales a large amount of water before spitting it out. This incident grants him the skill Water Pressure Propulsion. Soon after, he collides with a wall, taking damage but feels no pain thanks to Pain Nullification. His injuries trigger his special skill Self-Regeneration, allowing him to recover. Suddenly, a deep voice calls out to him, asking if he can hear it. Frustrated that he cannot respond without a mouth, Satoru mentally insults the speaker, calling him a "baldy." The unknown entity, shrouded in purple mist, reacts with mock offense, revealing that it has been sealed in the cave for 300 years and has not spoken to anyone in a long time. The entity offers Satoru the ability to see under one condition: he must not fear its appearance and must return to talk to it. The being explains that it has been trapped for centuries and is desperate for company. It then inquires whether Satoru can use Magic Sense, a skill that allows one to perceive magicules. As Satoru attempts to activate it, the Great Sage confirms that he has gained the extra skill Magic Sense, which enhances his perception. Upon using it, Satoru gains the ability to see and rushes to the water to check his reflection, confirming that he is indeed a slime.

Returning to the mysterious voice, Satoru discovers that it belongs to a massive dragon named Veldora, the Storm Dragon, one of the four True Dragons. Overwhelmed, Satoru tries to flee, but Veldora stops him, intrigued by the slime's unusually high intelligence. He asks Satoru if he is a Unique—someone with extraordinary abilities—but Satoru, confused, explains that he simply died and was reincarnated. Veldora realizes that Satoru is one of the rare reincarnated beings and explains that while Otherworlders, people from another world, occasionally appear, reincarnation across worlds is extremely rare due to the strain it puts on the soul. Intrigued by this revelation, Satoru decides to seek out other Otherworlders. However, Veldora, feeling lonely, pouts at Satoru’s eagerness to leave. This prompts Satoru to stay a little longer and ask why Veldora was sealed away.

Veldora reveals that he once destroyed a town, prompting a human hero wearing a unique mask to confront him. The hero used her unique skill Absolute Severance to defeat him and then sealed him away using Unlimited Imprisonment. She was a Summon, a type of warrior forcibly brought into this world through a lengthy ritual performed by over 30 mages. Summons are bound by a curse that ensures their obedience to their Summoner. When Satoru comments on how cruel the process sounds, Veldora simply states that this world operates under the law of survival of the fittest. Considering how lonely he was for thirty years without a girlfriend, Satoru reflects on how unbearable it must have been for Veldora to be alone for three centuries. Feeling sympathetic, he asks Veldora if he wants to be friends. Though initially acting like a tsundere, Veldora ultimately agrees. The episode ends with Tamura following through on Satoru’s final request—dropping his computer into a bathtub.
